The first legal whisky produced in Texas
since the Prohibition Era comes from The Balcones Distillery. The most amazing part about the distillery is the owners who are the most hands on distillers I have heard of. Not only do they make the whisky, they built the distillery and all the equipment required to distill. Thats right, they even built the pot still and the wash back and the spirit receivers etc.
Their love and passion paid off handsomely when their whisky was awarded a 2012 Best in Glass award for five year old whiskies. I believe they only started distilling in 2008. Their range includes three corn whiskies: Baby Blue, Brimstone & True Blue Whiskey as well as Rumble
Whiskey Liqueur which is made from Texas wildflower honey, mission
figs and turbinado sugar and also aged in small oak barrels.
